Dear Student
Year 9 IAG brochure
For the first time you are able to make some choices of your own about what to do at school. It is exciting, but it is also a bit of a challenge because some of these things are new. So what will you choose? Your parents will tell you that you need to get the right qualifications. Your teacher will tell you that you are good at his/her subject and should study it. And I will tell you that you need to make your own decisions too.
Think about what you eat. You need a varied diet, not lots of the same thing. It is the same when you think about how you learn. We all learn in different ways. These courses are different. They are practical. They last for a complete day at a time. They require new skills. They mean that you will have to be responsible for yourself in a different place. Exciting, isn’t it?
Of course, on four days of the week you will do what you always do. But for one day, you will do something different.
We expect that if you do one of these courses, your work in your other subjects will improve, not get worse. In other words, these courses are for ALL our students.
Every year more of you want to take one of these courses. If you see a course here that interests you, apply for it. Two years is a long time to spend doing things that you do not like. Whatever you choose to do, make sure that you have the right learning diet!
